Over 500 police officers will run in Montreal on Thursday, May 16

On Thursday May 16, during Police Week which runs from May 12 to 18, 2013, the Law Enforcement Torch Run police officers will organize four friendly races in various parts of Montreal. More than 500 runners from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and many municipal police services have already registered and will run approximately five kilometers. The SPVM’s Director, Mr. Marc Parent, and Assistant Director, Mr. Pierre Brochet, will take part in this event along with several Special Olympics athletes.

The aim of the Law Enforcement Torch run is to raise awareness among the general public about Special Olympics and its mission which is to enrich the lives of people with an intellectual disability through sport.
