SPECIAL OLYMPICS QUÉBEC HONORS ITS VOLUNTEERS

At a festive evening held on Saturday, November 21, Special Olympics Québec acknowledged the excellent work of its volunteers through its recognition programme. During the tribute evening held at the Four Points by Sheraton Lévis Convention Center in the presence of Mr. Gilles Lehouillier, mayor of Lévis, and of more than 200 volunteers and partners, 8 recognition awards were presented to those who distinguished themselves in the past year. 

The finalists and recipients of the 2015 awards are:

The Noëlla Douglas Award

Recipient: Céline Gélinas, Mauricie region

Local Chapter of the Year

Finalist: L’Assomption

Recipient: Gatineau, Outaouais region

Achievement ofthe Year

Award presented by Loto-Québec

Finalist: Le Défi Karting

Recipient: La Bande à Elvis, South Shore region

Sport Event of the Year

Finalists: Provincial Hockey Championship and Provincial Swimming Championship

Recipient: Provincial Soccer Championship, Québec City region

Male Coach of the Year

Award presented by FGL sports

Finalists: Eric Dunn and Shawn Ryan

Recipient: Pierre Boily, South Shore region

Female Coach of the Year

Award presented by FGL sports

Finalists: Duo Boccia and Samuelle Rivest

Recipient: Johanne Poulin, Estrie region

Torch Run Volunteer of the Year

Award presented bythe Caisse Desjardins des policiers et policières

Recipient: Martial Malette

Volunteer of the Year

Award presented by Hydro-Québec
