SPECIAL OLYMPICS QUÉBEC HONORS ITS VOLUNTEERS

At a festive evening held on Saturday, November 19, Special Olympics Québec acknowledged the excellent work of its volunteers through its recognition programme. Duringthe tribute evening held at the Sheraton Laval of more than 200 volunteers and partners, 7 recognition awards were presented to those who distinguished themselves in the past year. 

The finalists and recipients of the 2016 awards are:

The Noëlla Douglas Award

Recipient: André Van Damme, Rive-Sud region

Local Chapter of the Year

Finalist: Sud-Ouest-de-l’île

Recipient: Lajemmerais-Vallée-du-Richelieu, Rive-Sud region

Sport Event of the Year

Award presented by la Fondation Bon départ de Canadian Tire

Finalists: Provincial Alpine skiing Championship and Invitation Hockey Tournament

Recipient: Provincial Athletics Championship, Rive-Sud region

Male Coach of the Year

Award presented by FGL sports

Finalists: Shawn Ryan and Don Sugden

Recipient: Michel Guyon, Rive-Sud region

Female Coach of the Year

Award presented by FGL sports

Finalists: Suzanne Burgess and Caroline Lévesque

Recipient: Joanne Gouin, Rive-Sud region

Torch Run Volunteer of the Year

Award presented by the Caisse Desjardins des policiers et policières

Finalist: Benoit Robert

Recipient: Sonia Chaput, Lanaudière region

Volunteer of the Year
